April 2008: Game(s) to look forward to

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

March has seen quite a few high-quality releases, with a few more to come before the end of the month. Because of this, you may think that the number of releases may slow down for April. If you think this, you are wrong and should be shot. If you think that there is only one game worth picking up coming out this month then you should also be shot. Not as much as those who think there are no games, but shot nonetheless. The number of released this month may be short but the quality means that April is most definitely a sweet month for gaming this year. There isn’t just one game coming out this month, but there is a game. A highly anticipated game. A game which, if it were released any other time than now would be game of the year, nay, century. Read on as we reveal the cracking line up for April. (more…)

They have some half decent prices on a few games though at the moment, with Burnout Paradise for PS3 at only £29.99 and Stranglehold for Xbox 360 for £12.99.

God of War: Chains of Olympus - First Impressions

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

My Precious Underlings!GameOnYou, the wily tricksters that we are, have managed to get hold of a copy of the US version of God of War for the PSP.

It was a dark night when we strapped instructions to the back of our underlings and sent them westwards, toward the USA to find us a copy of the much coveted GoW: Chains of Olympus. Sadly only one returned, reporting back that the half of the group had to crash land as a result of achy-breaky pelvis, a severe illness which can only be contracted by underlings within a 100 mile radius of an earthquake. We figured that they would be safe in their natural habitat, Yorkshire, but we predicted wrong. It turns out that the other half went to Hollywood in order to pursue the American Dream. 4 died of Heroin overdose and one of them is starring in a piece for television. He plays the role of the ‘Before’ in an exercise machine informercial. The remaining underling held out the box then collapsed. I later snapped his neck. (more…)

God of War PSP - Too Short?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Short at under 5 hoursAlong with Sony’s new flagship title for the PSP, God of War, came universal acclaim (a metascore of 94) although there is also concern over the length of the game.

Wired.com blogger Chris Kohler reports;

Chains of Olympus is still really short at just under five hours. I’d be a little more forgiving of this if the game was jam-packed full of holy-shit moments like previous God of War games, but it just isn’t.

This sounds disappointing to say the least.
Watch this space as I will be picking this game up on release and will give you my verdict then.
