Sony IPs vaguely dated?

Tired of gunning through the epic war against space villains? Tough Luck because it appears that most of this years exclusives are exclusively that. With Epic/Microsoft’s Gears of War on the horizon it only seems fit that we now hear how Sony plan to oppose them. Gaming blog Videogamer.com have got their hands on some juicy information which is sure to please the PS3 side of the war, even if it is something which has been expected all along. They have found what appears to be Sony’s rough pencil sketches depicting the dates which they aim to release 3 exclusives in the UK this year, 2 of them Sci-Fi shooters.
To find out the dates, hop over to the full article. (more…)
If you’ve been following the gaming news, analysts recently predicted that Sony are going to be worried after the Xbox 360 price-cuts as it may cause sales to dry up. Sony, always the optimists, say this is not the case. Which is no surprise, what is a surprise is that they give a resoundingly good reason. They say that PS3 sales will continue uphill due to the fact that it has Blu-Ray integrated into the system. While this may be true I’m not so sure as Blu-Ray player prices are, like the 360, falling.
Sony’s reputation for failed media ventures ( with Mini-Disk, Betamax and Discman first coming to mind) It was a big surprise that they pulled through and won the war. I guess it just goes to show that you can’t predict the market. It also shows that Sony has finally learnt from their mistakes and that most PS3 owners have got tired of playing Lair and have had a go at watching Groundhog Day* on their anvil. This is good news for the industry though because Blu-Ray was arguably the better format. It had larger storage space which is what really matters in this age of terabytes and memory sticks.
