Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Tired of gunning through the epic war against space villains? Tough Luck because it appears that most of this years exclusives are exclusively that. With Epic/Microsoft’s Gears of War on the horizon it only seems fit that we now hear how Sony plan to oppose them. Sony: We don’t give a f*ck about Microsoft price cuts, capice?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

We just don't give a f*ckIf you’ve been following the gaming news, analysts recently predicted that Sony are going to be worried after the Xbox 360 price-cuts as it may cause sales to dry up. Sony, always the optimists, say this is not the case. Which is no surprise, what is a surprise is that they give a resoundingly good reason. They say that PS3 sales will continue uphill due to the fact that it has Blu-Ray integrated into the system. While this may be true I’m not so sure as Blu-Ray player prices are, like the 360, falling.

If this argument proves to be correct then Microsoft will not be happy as the 360 cut was a snide attempt to undercut the PS3 not only in price but also due to the large volume of exclusive titles coming to the console. Looks like Microsoft will have to rely on their own hard-hitting sequels in the holidays. That, and GTA IV.

I guess it just goes to show that you can’t predict the market. It also shows that Sony has finally learnt from their mistakes and that most PS3 owners have got tired of playing Lair and have had a go at watching Groundhog Day* on their anvil. This is good news for the industry though because Blu-Ray was arguably the better format. It had larger storage space which is what really matters in this age of terabytes and memory sticks. (more…)
