Major Nelson has informed Xboxers that the Halo 3 Heroic Map pack, containing 3 new multiplayer maps, is now available for free from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Standoff
The symmetrical valley of Standoff, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types.
Rat’s Nest
The vast, labyrinthine passages of the Rat’s Nest bring something completely new to the multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise. Strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, this map is ideal for big team battles.
Foundry
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map. Players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, placing stairways, walls, bridges, and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map imaginable.
Exiting stuff, although it’s a shame that Halo 3 is such an average game.

March has seen quite a few high-quality releases, with a few more to come before the end of the month. Because of this, you may think that the number of releases may slow down for April. If you think this, you are wrong and should be shot. If you think that there is only one game worth picking up coming out this month then you should also be shot. Not as much as those who think there are no games, but shot nonetheless. The number of released this month may be short but the quality means that April is most definitely a sweet month for gaming this year. There isn’t just one game coming out this month, but there is a game. A highly anticipated game. A game which, if it were released any other time than now would be game of the year, nay, century. Read on as we reveal the cracking line up for April. (more…)

Well, looks like HMV are having another sale (any excuse, right?) and so far it looks better than their January sale (which, to be honest wouldn’t take a whole lot of effort). They have some half decent prices on a few games though at the moment, with Burnout Paradise for PS3 at only £29.99 and Stranglehold for Xbox 360 for £12.99.

Zavvi.co.uk (Formerly Virgin Megastores) have a great deal on Flatout: Ultimate Carnage for the 360 at the moment. They’re offering the game for £13.00! And that’s with FREE Delivery! Flatout is a great racing series, If you haven’t played it before it’s a bit like that old game Destruction Derby except more fun, due to the addition of a handful of original modes such as; Bowling, where you need to launch your driver through the windscreen of your car at breakneck speed toward 10 huge pins in an attempt to knock as many down as possible; High Jump, where you need to launch your driver through the windscreen of your car at breakneck speed at a high angle in an attempt to fly as high as possible and also Long Jump, where you need to launch your driver through the windscreen of your car at breakneck speed in order to… Well you get the point. If you’ve been following the gaming news, analysts recently predicted that Sony are going to be worried after the Xbox 360 price-cuts as it may cause sales to dry up. Sony, always the optimists, say this is not the case. Which is no surprise, what is a surprise is that they give a resoundingly good reason. They say that PS3 sales will continue uphill due to the fact that it has Blu-Ray integrated into the system. While this may be true I’m not so sure as Blu-Ray player prices are, like the 360, falling.
If this argument proves to be correct then Microsoft will not be happy as the 360 cut was a snide attempt to undercut the PS3 not only in price but also due to the large volume of exclusive titles coming to the console. Looks like Microsoft will have to rely on their own hard-hitting sequels in the holidays. That, and GTA IV.

A Dutch gaming blog have managed to dig up what looks like some fairly hard evidence that the European Xbox 360 will be dropping its price in the near future.
It goes without saying that this will hopefully also include a UK price-drop. More news as it comes, fellow bargain hunters!
——————————————————-
Update: It has now been confirmed by Xbox Live’s Major Nelson. There will indeed be a price drop for Europe - Including UK. Details after the post-break.
